What every young statistician should know: developing your identity, networking and marketing

As we face one of the worst global crisis, Australia is entering recession and the job numbers are falling. So after all your training in statistics, how will you land a job? The good news is that a capable statistician, analyst or data scientist is still in demand. But how do they know that’s you? In this talk, I’ll share some social media strategies and how it helped in my journey to land a job I love very much.

Biography

Dr. Emi Tanaka is an applied statistician whose primary interest is to develop impactful methods and tools that can readily be used by practitioners. Her research interests include mixed models and experimental designs, motivated primarily by the problems in bioinformatics and agricultural sciences. She recently at the beginning of 2020 as a lecturer at the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics, Monash University and is currently the Vice-President of the Statistical Society of Australia Victorian Branch.
